Former Southern Miss football standout Dr. Doug Rouse continues to serve as one of the team orthopaedic surgeons for the Golden Eagles’ sports medicine department.

                A football letterwinner in 1968-69, Rouse has long been a supporter of Golden Eagle athletics. In 1982, he was inducted into the Southern Miss Sports Hall of Fame, and recently served as president of the M-Club Alumni Association.

                In 1991, the Southern Miss athletic department awarded him its annual honor for distinguished service. He also has served on the board of directors of the Southern Miss Athletic Foundation and was the chairman of the capital campaign committee. He currently is on the past president’s council.

                He is a partner in Southern Bone and Joint Specialists and Southern Sports Medicine and holds membership in the American Medical Association, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Michael Hoke Society. He is past president of the Mississippi Orthopaedic Society.

                Rouse is married to the former Pam Stamps of Hattiesburg, and they are the parents of three children, Christa, Wes and Haley.
